BIDEN’s ACCOMPLISHMENTS THROUGH AUGUST 31, 2022
1. JOBS & WAGES:
• Biden created 9,184,000 jobs through July, putting him 5th on the all-time list behind Clinton, Reagan, Roosevelt, Carter and Nixon….and he hasn’t even been in office 2 years. FYI, Trump LOST jobs during his time in office. Wages are also way up.
2. CLIMATE:
• The Inflation Reduction Act is the biggest climate bill ever and will reduce our carbon emissions by 1 billion metric tons by 2030 (that’s SOON!), driving down carbon emissions 42% from 2005 levels and lowering energy expenditures 4%
• Re-entered the Paris Climate Accords
• Appointed climate leaders to key administration roles
• Created the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council
• Got the largest off-shore wind lease in U.S. history
• Restored protection to Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante
• Restored and strengthened clean car standards to strongest ever
• Funded electric car charging stations in the infrastructure bill
• 40% of the U.S. Post Offices fleet of vehicles will be electric, funded by infrastructure bill
• Funded clean electric buses in infrastructure bill
• Funded clean-up of polluting orphan oil and gas wells in infrastructure bill
• Funded $20 billion in clean energy R&D in infrastructure bill
3. SUPPLY CHAINS:
• Unclogged the major backlog at ports by getting more shifts or workers to clear containers
• Dems further fined companies for not picking up their containers in a timely manner
• Told government to order medical supplies like masks from domestic producers so they could enlarge their factories and stay in business when pandemic was over but be prepared for next one
• Passed a Chips bill to have chip manufacturers build chips in the U.S. so we aren’t dependent on China and Taiwan and we can lead others in this key technology
4. UKRAINE/FREE WORLD:
• United the world against Russia, putting out the toughest sanctions ever
• United NATO which had been beaten up since Trump and actually added 2 countries, Finland and Sweden, to the 32-country bloc
• Supplied and got others to supply Ukraine with necessary weapons and intelligence that has enabled Ukraine to fight the 2nd strongest military which wanted to take over the whole of Ukraine. Ukraine is now winning again since getting HIMARs
5. PANDEMIC:
• Smooth, Fast Vaccine Rollout (remember what it was like when Trump was in charge?)
• Passed a $1.9 TRILLION American Rescue Plan, extending unemployment, $1400 checks to Americans, dramatically reduced child poverty, $30 billion in restaurant relief, increased funding for SNAP, $120 billion to K-12 schools, vaccinations
• Free tests and masks for everyone
• Ended restrictions
6. IMMIGRATION:
• Took 296 executive actions on immigration in his first year, 89 of which reversed or started to undo Trump’s actions
• Expanded Temporary Protected Status for 1 million noncitizens
• Slowed illegal immigration to the lowest level since 2010
7. INFRASTRUCTURE:
• Passed a $1.2 TRILLION bipartisan infrastructure bill that will keeps his jobs numbers up through his re-election. This is HUGE…rural broadband, public transportation, bridges, roads, airports, energy systems, waterways
8. GUN CONTROL:
• Biden passed the first gun safety bill since the 1990s. It gives incentives to states to pass red flag laws and allows groups to petition courts to remove weapons from people deemed a threat, expands the law that prevents domestic abusers from owning guns and expands background checks
9. JUDGES:
• Put the first black woman on the Supreme Court and selected a YOUNG one
• Has appointed 76 judges to lifetime appointments, many of whom are women and minority judges (this rate of successful appointments is super high…higher than Trump, even a bit higher than Reagan)
10. LIFE:
• Halted federal executions
11. AFGHANISTAN:
• Left Afghanistan, something every president promised but none did
• Got 150,000 supporters out of it before the government fell to the Taliban, way, way more than we managed in Vietnam where it was more like zero
• Killed Zawahiri, head of Al Qaeda
12. DECENCY/TRUTH:
• Brought back decency, daily press conferences, scandal-free administration
13. RULE OF LAW:
• The justice department has arrested and charged over 800 January 6th insurrectionists and is steadily going up the ranks
14. MISCELLANEOUS:
• Released gas from the reserves to lower the price of gas
• Got baby formula shipped in to end the baby formula crisis
